The project aimed to bring together Metropolitan residents and young people from the local community, providing them with professional football training, organised league entry and closer to their housing provider.

Here are a few positive outcomes from the project:

– A local 11aside team, Metropolitan Hilltop, were saved from liquidation and are still competing in the Islington Midweek Football League.

– Engaged 70+ young people.

– 2 participants completed their FA Level 1 Coaching Award.

– Training every Monday with a professional coach from Cricklewood Wanderers FC.

– Young people from the following postcodes in N/NW London were brought together harmoniously: HA9, HA0, NW10, NW2, NW6, N16, N7, W10.

– Metropolitan Hilltop 5aside won their debut season at Wembley Powerleague.

– 6 participants attended a business and employment workshop with Youth Engagement Solutions, at John Lewis Brent Cross.

The Community Football Project has also left a legacy, with 2 participants getting their FA Level 1 Football Coaching awards, and leading the teams into the future:

– Metropolitan have sponsored Metropolitan Hilltop 11aside throughout the 2017/18 season.

– The 5 aside team have a coach in place with a lot of connections in the Chalkhill community.

– The group can be engaged weekly by Metropolitan through Monday training.

“The Community Football Project was a great success in terms of engaging more than 70 young people from local community. Thanks to Metropolitan’s funding, a community team (Hilltop FC) was literally saved from liquidation, and on top of that a team of younger players was formed and won a local 5 aside league. The players came from rival postcode areas but all united to play some great football, with two of them completing their first coaching badge. It’s great to see a large organisation like Metropolitan giving back to their community, and showing they really care about their residents” Mohamedd Zeiani, Youth Coordinator.

Huge thanks to Metropolitan for putting their time and money into their residents, and the local community!
