Our Employment, Enterprise, Skills and Training department has had a busy summer.

Plenty of success to report!

YES have recently completed another Employment Contract in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions/Jobcentre Plus.

DWP JCP

Exceeding our target of 22 job outcomes, we put 33 people into full time work- and a further 15 into part time/casual positions during 2017.

A total of 48 job outcomes for DWP clients in 7 and a half months (in addition to outcomes through other projects!) is an exceptional achievement for an organisation of our size, and it’s great to see lives changed through our work.

Here’s what one of customers had to say about our work:

As a graduate looking for work and finding it difficult, I was advised to look at the YES LTD charity for employment support. It was there that I met Liam who sat down with me and helped me with countless application forms. It was due to his help I have been able to gain employment with not just 1 but 2 jobs. I am now a shop manager at William Hill and a tutor at Explore Learning, in addition to being accepted to do my PGCE at Middlesex university. YES helped me with my personal statement and application for further study. Liam is a very enthusiastic person and will not stop till he can get everyone into employment. He would be an incredible asset to any one.

Customer, 22, now working happily in 2 jobs and starting a PGCE in September after 7 months unemployment.

John Lewis Workshop

John Lewis Partnership

Using our links with the John Lewis Partnership, we delivered a workshop for customers from several projects covering a range of topics at John Lewis Brent Cross.

Open to our DWP customers, Genesis, and Metropolitan Housing Association residents, the workshop covered effective job applications, a careers talk from a John Lewis manager and an “Introduction to Business” seminar.

We had a spacious training room provided by the John Lewis Partnership, and an insightful talk about the different careers available within retail and vital tips to help attendees ensure they’re noticed throughout the John Lewis job application process.
